Who is president?


The president is the head of state, commander-in-chief of the armed forces, and head of government.

If you want to be president, you either have to be born into a political family (like George Washington) or work your way up through public service. No one can run for office unless they are 35 years old or older and have been a citizen for at least 14 years.

The President of the United States is the head of state, commander in chief of the armed forces, and head of government. The president’s main duties include representing America abroad and enforcing federal laws. He or she also makes treaties with other countries, making appointments to high offices in the executive branch, pardons convicted criminals, and gives State of Union addresses to Congress every year (which are basically speeches).
