Reynold “Butch” Gima

“Butch” Gima is a social worker with Lana`i Counseling Services, who’s hero is Muhammed Ali.  Butch first met Mazie four years ago and is very eager to help her in her race for Congress.

If you’ve never been to Lana`i, Butch recommends Hulopoe Beach as it is his favorite place on Lana`i.

John Ornellas

John Ornellas works for Castle & Cooke Resorts on Lanai, in Property Management.  He is a single parent – two daughters – and is very involved in his community.  He first met Mazie when she was in her second term as Lt. Governor.

John is a member of the Maui County Police Commission, SHPDA Tri-Isle Sub-Area Council Chair, Hawaiian Islands Oral Health Task Force member, Lana`i Community Benefit Fund Chair, Lana`i High School Community Council member, LHES Master Plan Committee member, Coalition for a Drug Free Lana`i Board Member, Keola Hou O Lana`i Board Member.

When asked about his heroes, John said, “I have many heroes.  Most recent my heroes are the men and women of our armed forces who make the ultimate sacrifice to protect our country and our freedoms.”

When asked about his favorite place on Lana`i, John said, “…when I get off the plane from Honolulu, the cool, fresh air, pheasants flying across the runway and after the engines are off…..the peacefulness.  I know I’m home again.”
