Bernie
Sakoda
Mayor Eduardo Malapit first introduced Bernie to Mazie in
1993 when Mazie first ran for Lt. Governor. The Mayor asked Bernie
to help Mazie in her race, and she’s been a good friend of Mazie’s ever
since.
“I really like Mazie’s passion for public service,” Bernie
said.
Although you wouldn’t know it by looking at her, Bernie
started her financial services company 36 years ago. She serves as
the executive vice-president and manager and has three
employees.
Bernie is very active in the Lihue community. Among
the many things she’s does, she’s currently a board member for the
Department of Water and Hui Alu Okinawan Club, is a member of Kauai
economic development board, and has served on various boards and
commissions, including the state commission on Culture and the Arts.
She is currently President of Hawaii Financial Services Association.
Bernie has worked on many political campaigns over the
years, with her first campaign was working for George Ariyoshi when he
first ran for Governor. Since then she has worked on every
Democratic Governor’s race.

Steven
Nishimura
Steven Nishimura is active in politics because “politics
is the life of a community and we either benefit or suffer from the
consequences of government. There is no individual issue of
importance other than the privilege of citizenship and the desire to
protect it.”
Steven is a real estate appraiser who first met Mazie four
years ago.

Sharron Weber
No one is better qualified to ride the waves of
campaigning than Sharron Weber, 1970 and 1972 World Surfing Champion and
5-Year State Surfing Champion.
Sharron recently celebrated 33 years in business on Kaua`i
as the owner and president of Tire Warehouse Kaua`i.
She is very active in the business community on
Kaua`i. She currently serves as the President of the Kalepa Sunrise
Rotary Club, a Director of the Kaua`i Chamber of Commerce and a member of
the Lihue Business Association. She has a dog, named Sam, and is an
avid golfer. Needless to say, Sharron loves all water sports!
